Toilets on Top of the Tower

Malaysian public toilets are noted for not being a pleasant experience for Westerners since many of them are squat toilets with a hole in the floor, no toilet paper, and a hose on the wall or, worse yet, just a water bucket with a ladle to clean your backside.  As a result the floors are usually wet and you're not exactly sure what with, but you know its not good.  There a lot of websites which describe this in detail, e.g., http://chinyoke.wordpress.com/2012/03/14/snapshots-4-truly-malaysia-the-wetness-of-toilets/ http://malaysianmeanders.blogspot.com/2012/04/malaysian-public-toilets.html http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091220161149AA3lRxW

We've solved part of the problem by me always carrying Kleenex and Wet Wipes in my Timbuk2 bag whenever we leave my daughter's house.  However, my wife says (only somewhat jokingly) that her greatest fear here is that she's going to slip and fall and knock herself out or die lying on the wet floor of a Malaysian public toilet.

But I want to point out at least one place in Kuala Lumpur that has the most advanced high tech public toilets I've ever seen anywhere.  Yesterday we went to the Menara Kuala Lumpur Tower to look out from the observation deck and have the lunch buffet in the restaurant. The toilets in the restaurant are immaculate, dry and have Toshiba commodes with adjustable heated seats, a built in bidet with adjustments for the direction and volume of the water spray and a dryer for your backside!

Here is a close up of the controls.

Amazing!
