Trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand via Tokyo and Seoul

Our daughter Amy, son-in-law Justin and our four grand-daughters - Hannah, Kaylee, Macy and Whitney - moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January.  Justin is now a Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Rim Division of a U.S. company and is responsible for marketing animal pharmaceuticals in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Viet Nam, South Korea and the Philippines.  They will be there for at least two years and we're hearing rumblings of perhaps another international posting after that.

While the move is a great career opportunity for Justin and we are very proud of all of them for being brave and adventurous to make such a move, it is (literally) on the other side of the world and we miss them terribly.   My wife Carol and I have been to Europe together twice for fun and I've been there four other times on business and once to Tokyo on business.   Last year Carol said that in the future she just wanted to travel in the U.S. and Canada and maybe Mexico but now that the G-Kids are in Malaysia . . . well, we've decided to make a virtue out of necessity and travel to visit them as much as we can and see the world along the way in the coming years.

On this trip we leave on March 20 to fly first to Tokyo and then Seoul (with a 17 hour layover) and then on to Kuala Lumpur.  Next week the G-Kids are off from school for spring break so we're all going to a beach resort in Phuket, Thailand.  After we return from Phuket, my son Dustin and his girl friend Jamee are joining us in Kuala Lumpur.  We'll stay there until April 6 and then the four of us will fly back together.

My daughter has been scouting out places to go and things to do while we're in Kuala Lumpur.  There are famous places to visit there but one of the first things I want to do is go with my grand-daughters to feed the monkeys that live near their house.  This is a picture taken several weeks ago that I've been bragging about to friends and neighbors of my oldest grand-daughter, Hannah, feeding the monkeys :

We're really looking forward to the trip and I plan to post lots of pictures and comments in the coming weeks.
